Parma Style Tomato Sauce
Ingredients
  • 4tablespoons from Olives & Grapes 100% pure Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 medium onionvery finely chopped
  • 1/2cup red wine
  • 3cloves garlicfinely chopped
  • 1 can tomatoes with juice28 ounces
  • 1/2cup Romano or parmesan cheese.
  • 3-4 large basil leaveschopped
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
  1. Heat oil to medium-low in saucepan.
  2. Add onion and cook until translucent, 5 – 8 minutes.
  3. Add red wine and stir until the alcohol has evaporated, about 3 minutes.
  4. Add garlic, cook and stir 2 minutes.
  5. Add tomatoes and cheese and stir well.
  6. Simmer uncovered 20 – 30 minutes.
  7. Add basil and cook 5 minutes more.
  8. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  9. Makes 4 cups.
